Thornton le Dale 3rd's V's Ganton 2nd's

Ganton 2nds 67 all out - Thornton le Dale 3rds 68 for 5

A historic day for the Third Eleven as Ganton won the toss and decided to bat. Ashley Hodgson took the ball and on his first over had Ganton's opener back in the pavillion. Once Ash found his rhythm he had all the batsmen in trouble and in one spectacular over had 4 wickets including a hat-trick. The 10th wicket was a run out which Ash also had a hand in.

Thornton le Dale 3rds 105 for 4 - Whitby 3rd's 73 all out

Thornton le Dale First 11 V's Settrington

On one of the best afternoons of the season so far the first 11 hosted the top of the league Setrington. Pat Stephenson had a good toss and elected to field. It looked like being a long afternoon in the first over C Headlam (Keane) was stroked around the ground with abandon. The height of the young Adam Hargreves stopped the onslaught with a bit of good fortune. From the bat to the pad on to the foot and a trickle to dislodge the bail. Keane followed up soon after with the “slow ball” to have the main Settrington batsman LBW. Wickets came steadily through the overs but fielding errors allowed Setrington off the hook. Most notable was Tim Hodgson committing the cardinal sin of “droping off your own bowling” The visitors ended on 150 all out.
The “tea” as usual was of the highest standard especially the little scones with jam on.
The batting suffered an early blow with the loss of Pat Stephenson pushing a catch back to mid on. Adam Hargreves played well and kept the scoreboard ticking over with the trademark flick of the pads. Unfortunately on 34 the Setrington spinner broke through his steadfast defence. Stu Hill soon followed. Andrew Rudd blocked the first ball and found his eye to plant the next ball over the boundary for six. An entertaining 10 overs followed where Rudd and Sigsworth put on a brisk 70. Rudd (40) was finally caught on the boundary playing his usually attacking strokes. A brief flurry of 5 wickets in 3 overs  soon followed, most notably Tom Sigsworth (45). It required the staunchest of defences from Keane to stop the “rot” Tim Hodgson Finished of the game in fine style driving through covers for four. (by A.Rudd)

Thornton le Dale 3rd's V's Sewerby 3rds

Thornton won the toss and elected to bowl. They started well with Ashley Hodgson and Paul Allardice bowling well, each taking early wickets, however Sewerby rallied from the loss of early wickets to be all out for 124 with Hodgson 4-33 and Allardice 4-24

Batting was a struggle and Thornton ended all out on 75 with Matthew Clark top scoring on 14.

Thornton le Dale V's Lockton (Pickering Evening league)

On the Final game of the Season in this League, Thornton batted first and scored freely with a wonderful partnership of 116 between Thomas Sigsworth and Tim Hunt.Sigsworth hit some big sixes in his innings of 78 and Hunt superbly supported him with a fine 32. At the end of their alloted 20 overs the young Dale team were 167 for 4.

Lockton started quickly, however chasing such a large total were soon behind the run rate and finished on 140. The pick of the bowling was Captain Tim Hodgson.

Thornton le Dale 3rd's V's Whitby 3rd's

Thornton won the toss and elected to bowl. They started well with Ashley Hodgson and the ever improving Mark Williams bowling well, however it was a very hot day and after the previous 5 games off for rain the team looked rather rusty in the field, something that is normally their strength.Whitby batted well and after their alloted overs scored a very solid 190 for 3 wickets.

All the batsmen for Thornton struggled against some very good Whitby bowling and were all out for 55.A game to forget for the Third Eleven !

Thornton le Dale V's Brawby (Evening Beckett league)

On the Final home game of the Season in this League, Brawby batted first and totally a steady 96 off their 14 overs for the loss of just 4 wickets

Thornton openers A.Rudd and T.Sigsworth found the bowling to their liking and knocked the runs off after only 10 overs with Rudd on 53 no. and Sigsworth on 43 no. At last an easy win for the Thornton team.

Thornton le Dale 2nd' V's Heslerton 2nd's

A game league leaders Heslerton thought they would easily win ended up completely the opposite with a final ball win for a much depleted second 11.

Heslerton won the toss and elected to bat, however wickets tumbled regularly and despite some good middle order batting, Thornton restricted Heslerton to 164 all out. An inspirational innings of 64 by John Knowles and well supported by others left 3 runs to win off the last over. This dropped to 1 run to tie off the last ball, however Matthew Clark and Ashley Hodgson ran 2 to win the game for Thornton.

Thornton le Dale 3rd's V's Seamer 3rd's

Matthew Clark in his first ever role as Team Captain lost the toss and a depleted 3rd team were fielding first against league leaders Seamer. However the young Clark impressively swapped his bowlers around well and led by example in the field.

Paul Allerdice (3-30), Ashley Hodgson (3-51) and Dave Brook (4-6) all bowled well on a wet wicket and Seamer were left reeeling on 106 all out.

The young Dale team were never a match for the very experienced Seamer team and wicket after wicket tumbled to leave them on 45 all out.

Thornton le Dale 2nd' V's Lockton 2nd's

After a week of almost solid rain, it was amazing any cricket was played, however Lockton won the toss and put Thornton into bat. It was never a batting wicket as the outfield was incredibly slow and it was a struggle for all the batsman. Lyle King was the pick of the batsman top scoring on 36. A late flurry pushed the score up to 106 after the allotted 40 overs.

Lockton found the batting equally difficult and wickets tumbled with all the bowlers taking wickets. Lockton ran out of overs and were left 30 runs short after their allotted overs.

Thornton le Dale 3rd's V's Cayton 3rd's

On a pitch that resembled the Somme after all the rain, Thornton won the toss and put Cayton into bat. As this was the last game of the season everyone bowled and the Cayton batsman took full advantage, particularly the batsman from a higher league.

Thorntons batting was positive and B. White 31, A. Hodgson 18, M.Clark 18, L.Hartas 22 and O.Sigsworth 22 all batted well. However the Result was never in question as at the end of 40 overs Thornton were still 80 short.

The Total of 159 was the highest score of the season for the 3rd Eleven and finished the season on a postitive note as all the top end batsman scored valuable runs.

Thornton le Dale 2nd's V's Ravenscar 2nd's

Thornton batted first and struggled for the first 20 overs steadily losing wickets. Paul Waring then stepped up a gear and hit a good 56 with some fine shots. He was well supported by Oliver Sigsworth, Matthew Clark and Ashley Hodgson. Thornton finished on 131 for 8 after 40 overs.

Ravescar's batting was never up to some good Bowling from both Tim Hodgson (4-5) and Ashley Hodgson (3-12). Oliver Sigsworth polished off the tail with 2-10. Ravenscar were all out for 30.
